Privacy policy

Effective and last updated: October 25, 2026

AquaNoteStudio (the developer) describes below how information is handled in AquaNote, an aquarium water change tracker. This policy covers local records and advertising in the free Android app. Purchases and production advertising on iOS are not currently offered.

1. App records and their purpose

Tank names, dimensions, colors, setup dates, water change dates and percentages, history, notes and reminder settings are stored on your device to display and edit records, calculate reminder dates and schedule local notifications. Language preference is also stored on your device. There is no feature that sends these records to a developer server. The developer cannot view your local records.

2. Local recovery copies

The previous saved copy is kept on your device to help recover from failed saves or corruption. Corrupt original data may also be kept locally before recovery. These copies are not sent to the developer.

3. Notifications and permissions

Device permission is requested when you enable reminders. Notifications are scheduled locally and may include your tank name on the lock screen. You can disable notifications in device settings. Reminders do not make aquarium care decisions for you, and battery-saving settings may delay delivery.

4. Backups, restoration and OS features

At your request, the app exports or shares a JSON file containing records, notes and reminder settings, or restores a selected file. Backups are not encrypted. Choose storage locations and recipients carefully. Any service you share a file with handles it under its own policies. Depending on OS settings, app records may be included in OS backups or device migration.

5. Advertising and external services

The free Android app uses Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK) to display a banner in the tank list. Development builds use test ads. Ads may not appear depending on availability, device, region and consent status.

Google SDKs may collect and share IP addresses (including approximate location derived from IP), ad interactions, diagnostics such as crash and performance information, and device or account identifiers such as advertising IDs or app set IDs, where applicable, for advertising, measurement and fraud prevention. Transport protection follows the SDK specifications. The app requests non-personalized ads; this does not mean no information is collected. Tank names, water change history and notes are not passed to the ad SDK.

Ads are requested after Google's User Messaging Platform checks whether ads may be requested and obtains applicable consent. Make your choices in any consent form shown. Supported choices can be changed through Help & data → Ad privacy settings. Device advertising ID settings may also be available. You can use water change records even if consent checks or ad loading fail.

For Google's processing, retention and deletion, see Google's Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. SDK data is subject to Google's retention and management practices. The developer cannot directly delete Google's data from your device.

The supplies section opens external shopping websites. Current links are ordinary product searches that do not earn referral fees. Any future affiliate links will be labeled as sponsored or affiliate links. The app has no feature to sell or disclose your tank records to third parties.

6. Support email

If you email support, the developer receives your email address, sender name, message and any images or files you choose to attach. They are used to respond, investigate issues and maintain support history, kept as long as needed for those purposes, and deleted when no longer needed. Google Gmail is used to send, receive and store support emails. Support information is not disclosed to third parties except with your consent or as required by law. Send personal information or backups only when needed.

7. Support and introduction website

Opening the external website creates network traffic. The hosting provider may process IP addresses, access times and browser information for delivery and security. The developer has not installed custom advertising or analytics on this website. Opening the website does not transmit your local tank records.

8. Retention, deletion and security

Delete records within the app, clear app storage or uninstall the app. To remove internal recovery copies as well, clear app storage or uninstall. Exported files, OS backups and shared copies must be managed separately. The developer cannot remotely delete or recover records on your device.

Use device security measures such as a screen lock. The developer uses account access controls to protect support information. To request deletion of support information, contact the address below. Requests are reviewed and handled unless retention is required by law.

9. Changes

This policy will be updated when features or information handling change. Applicable explanations, declarations and consent procedures will be addressed when adding advertising, purchases, analytics or cloud sync. Material changes will be announced in the app or on the support website.
